About the event
The webinar "Elections, Polarization and Social Media" is an initiative of the School of Communications, Media and Information at FGV (FGV ECMI) and the Embassy of Germany in Brazil, seeking to promote a debate on the impact of social media and extreme polarization on the Brazilian electoral process. In light of recent experiences in countries like the US and Germany, the webinar addresses the risks for democracy and for the electoral process of the growing social polarization, enhanced by digital technologies, and its impacts on the public discourse and quality of democracy, as well as opportunities to improve digital environments to strengthening of democratic values in Brazil.
