Marcelo Danéris has a major in History at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2008) and is a Master (2012) and a Doctor (2016) in Poltical Sience, with a post-doctorate (2018) in Public Policy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He was a city councilor in Porto Alegre for two mandates (2001-2004; 2007-2008) and the Secretary of the state government of Rio Grande do Sul during the Tarso Genro administration (2011-2014). From 2019 to 2021, he was Deputy Director of the Francisco Juruena Higher School of Administration and Control at the Rio Grande do Sul State Accounting Court (TCE-RS). During 2021 and 2022, he was a visiting researcher at the New York University (NYU) and a researcher at Instituto Novos Paradigmas. He is currently a Project Coordinator at the School of Communication, Media and Information at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-ECMI).
