FGV Comunicação (the School of Communication, Media, and Information at Fundação Getulio Vargas), in partnership with the Office of the General Counsel for the Federal Government (AGU), will hold the inaugural lecture of the MBA Program in Defense of Democracy and Digital Communication on March 11, 2025 (Tuesday), from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, at FGV Brasília. The event is free and open to the public, featuring authorities, experts, faculty members, and students and focusing on the challenges of regulating digital platforms. The opening session will be led by the General Counsel for the Federal Government, Jorge Messias, and the Director-General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues.
Marco Ruediger, Director of FGV Comunicação, highlights the importance of specialized training in addressing the challenges of the digital era: "Defending democracy in the digital environment requires a deep understanding of platform dynamics and the mechanisms behind the spread of misinformation. This MBA program is a pioneering initiative that will equip professionals to tackle these contemporary challenges, fostering more ethical and transparent digital governance.” Mr. Ruediger will also speak on the panel "Challenges of Digital Governance and Social Participation”.

About the program:
The MBA Program in Defense of Democracy and Digital Communication was designed to equip professionals to navigate digital changes and their impacts on democratic governance. The program has a total workload of 432 hours, with classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The course is divided into three modules: Defense of Democracy, Digital Communication and Management, and Data Culture. The modules cover topics such as platform regulation, political sociology of communication, social media analysis, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic governance.
Under the academic coordination of Professor Fabiano Santos and the vice-coordination of Leonardo Foletto, the program aims to develop a critical and strategic view on the challenges of digital communication and its relationship with the defense of democracy.
