From February 10 to 13, FGV Comunicação Rio hosted an Integration Week (Semana de Integração) for incoming undergraduates in its Digital Communication program. The event’s extensive schedule introduced the course and offered a series of guest lectures featuring industry professionals. Over the week, students got to know the curriculum, met faculty members, and learned about the institution’s core values and its various opportunities. They also became acquainted with the DAPPLab, MídiaLab, and the school’s Digital Communication agency.
Director Marco Ruediger addressed the students on Wednesday, February 12, outlining his expectations and emphasizing innovation as the program’s defining characteristic. He highlighted that the field of communication is evolving from playing a support role into providing a strategic function within modern companies. According to him, training in Digital Communication is extremely important in today’s era of Artificial Intelligence and widespread social media use.
On the first day, course coordinator Renata Tomaz introduced the curriculum and the faculty, while representatives from the student organizations LACOM (the Academic League of Digital Communication at FGV) and the Academic Center for Digital Communication presented their initiatives.
Starting Tuesday afternoon, a series of lectures explored topics on Digital Communication. The first lecture focused on Corporate Communication, featuring Hamilton Santos, Executive Director of ABERJE (Brazilian Association of Corporate Communication), who discussed the institution’s role and its evolution in response to market shifts. The second lecture featured Olivia Richardson, Head of Communication and Marketing at PRIO (an oil and gas company). On Thursday, the guests were Mariana Stabile, CEO of Sharp, and Yuri Zero from Melted Videos, who discussed the topic of Communication for Gen Z.
At FGV, learning extends beyond the classroom. By organizing strategic events and promoting direct engagement with industry leaders, the institution provides students with learning and networking opportunities from the start of their academic journey.
