The professors of the School of Communication, Media and Information and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV ECMI) participated in the 47th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences (Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Ciências Sociais – ANPOCS). The Meeting happened virtually from October 18 to 20 and in person from October 25 to 27 at the campus of the Campinas State University (Unicamp), in Campinas, São Paulo.
Professor Victor Piaia coordinated the Graduate Research Symposium “Mediatization, platformization and political discourse” alongside Natasha Bachini (USP) on Wednesday, October 18, at 6:30pm. On Friday, October 20, professors Sabrina Almeida, Dalby Dienstbach and Lucas Roberto presented the study “Hyperpartisan channels, repertoire of political action and the dispute for visibility in the 2022 elections in Brazil”, within the Media and Politics Work Group, section Media, Behavior and Elections.
In the in person portion of the Meeting on October 26, professors Maria Sirleidy Cordeiro, Dalby Dienstbach and Polyana Barboza presented the study “The narrative dispute of agribusiness on Facebook: a socio-cognitive approach”, within the Internet, Politics and Culture Work Group, section Internet, Politics and Culture.
“This study mapped and analyzed the meanings underlying the narrative dispute involving agribusiness in news links circulating on Facebook. Within the agribusiness topic on social media, we found that narratives related to the economy and hunger stood out, for instance”, explained the professor and one of the authors of the study, Maria Sirleidy Cordeiro.
The National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences encompasses more than a hundred post-graduation and research centers on Anthropology, Political Science, International Relations, and Sociology from all over Brazil.
