FGV ECMI professors participate in IPSA Congress

World Congress of Political Science, in Buenos Aires, spoke about global problems

Professors of the School of Communication, Media and Information at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV ECMI) participated in the 27th World Congress of Political Science (IPSA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to discuss the topic ‘Politics in the Age of Transboundary Crises’. The event happened at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina from July 15 to 19, 2023. 

The professors Sabrina Almeida and Victor Piaia coordinated the panel ‘The Landscape and Strategies to Combat Disinformation in Comparative Perspective’. Victor presented the study ‘Candidates and Political Influencers in the 2022 Brazilian Presidential Elections’, and Sabrina presented the study ‘Paid Promotions and Votes in the Elections for Federal Deputies in Brazil (2018-2022)’, a project co-authored by FGV ECMI researcher Denisson Santos. Professor Luciana Veiga was a speaker in the panel ‘Parties and Electoral Competition’. She also presented the study ‘Challenges for Political Communication in the 2022 Elections’.

This year, the Congress addressed how domestic and international politics are notably challenged by issues that go beyond country borders, such as climate change, cyberterrorism, global migration flows, financial instability, the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
