The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Luciana Santos was one of the visitors at the booth of the School of Communication, Media and Information at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV ECMI) in Rio Innovation Week, happening between October 3 and 6 at Pier Mauá. Undersecretary of Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro Vinícius Wu was also present on Tuesday (October 3).
On Wednesday, Professor Anna Bentes participated in the panel ‘The cognitive impact of screen addiction and the algorithmization of thought’ at 2pm. She also participated in the podcast ‘Cognitive and emotional impacts of screen addiction’ at 4:30pm. In turn, Professor Alessandra Maia participated in the podcast ‘Paths to the metaverse’.
The FGV ECMI booth had an extensive schedule. Some of the interactive activities included a visit to the School’s laboratories using VR sets, an instagrammable space with ring light, instant photo printing, and live monitoring of the event's impact on social media.
In addition, the undergraduate students in Digital Communication presented innovative projects developed in their first semester. One of the projects was a timeline of Yanomami lands in 3D space, and the other was a platform for searching for low prices on makeup and beauty products. The space was located at Armazém 1.
Rio Innovation Week is the largest technology and innovation event in Latin America and is organized by the Rio de Janeiro city government.
