FGV ECMI and Meta are together in the project Entremeios for the promotion of training and qualification of professionals, dissemination of knowledge about the metaverse, immersive technologies and sharing of knowledge between the institutions to develop inclusive metaverse environments.
The partnership will launch with a series of panels on different aspects of the metaverse.
- January 1: Metaverse 101: understanding the concept and its applications
Since 2021, mentions of the term Metaverse have increased exponentially, but what it is and the way it works is still foggy. This is the first meeting in a series of debates seeking to explore the Metaverse and its several possibilities, carried out in a partnership between FGV ECMI and Meta. This panel deals with the concept of the Metaverse and its applications, seeking to prepare the public to debates that may generate exchanges capable of developing inclusive and experience-rich environments in the Metaverse.
- February 14 How is the Metaverse built?
The Metaverse is under construction and there is no consensus on what it will be like in the near future. Despite their importance, the issues of technology and infrastructure and not the only ones in the debate about the development of metaverse environments. That is because it is necessary to engage and encourage people to use, appropriate and return to these places. For that reason, design and narrative are crucial for solving issues associated with the low engagement in the spaces built. In this debate, participants will explore this scenario and debate the main requirements for the full construction of the metaverse.
- March 14: Metaverse and gender violence: how to build a safe space for women?
Conceiving and producing a Metaverse environment requires considerations of those involved about the security challenges for the development of safe and inclusive ecosystem. This panel proposes a debate about Metaverse and gender violence. According to a UN report, one out of five women around the world have been the victim of some form of violence in the digital environment. According to Safernet Brasil, out of all hate crimes committed on the internet in 2021, misogyny was the most reported in the country in absolute numbers: 7,096 cases. The data reinforces the importance of this debate. We will receive specialists on the topic aiming to reach possibilities to turn these immersive environments a welcoming place.
- April 11: Experimental cases and applications in the Metaverse
For those getting familiar with the topic of the Metaverse, there is always the question: have I ever been in a Metaverse environment? What is this kind of space like? To make it easier to understand, we can turn to online videogames such as MMORPGs or Fortnite. If you have had a change to try those, you may have an idea of how an immersive environment works. Regarding the metaverse, there can be several applications, such as interior design, concerts, getting together with friends, healthcare, education and political campaigns, to mention a few. In this panel, the goal is to discuss and go in-depth into its potential applications in remote work and fashion.

The traditional classroom dates back to the 19th century, usually following a model of content transfer in order to handle as many people as possible inside a physical space. However, it is not new that pedagogy and teachers in different levels of education have sought solutions and methods capable of meeting the demands of the historical period in which their students are inserted, emphasizing the protagonism of these young people. Seeking to contribute to the debate, this panel brings professionals to reflect on what can change in the teaching-learning dynamics in immersive environments, such as the metaverse.
